We are Joe and Jamie Cook... welcome to our website. As is true for many people, the catastrophe of September 11, 2001 signified a turning point in our lives. We were dating with no future plans. We were both in the corporate game. I was traveling 5 days a week doing consulting work.  Jamie worked in financial planning with long hours, putting profits into someone else’s pocket.  We had a combined income over $200,000. According to the “master plan”, we were doing very well. But that fateful day we both realized something significant was missing…a life.  We had lots of “stuff”, but no time to enjoy it or see our family and friends or even each other. That day, we both left the game.

In the search for more time and less travel with a decent income, we bought into a small business. We found less travel, but we found just as much work and not nearly enough money. We got married, had a daughter, and continued working hard. But it was still a rat-race to raise our daughter in, and now Granny (96 yrs) and Jamie’s mom (76 yrs) could not continue living by themselves. Both were having health issues and living 2000 miles apart. All this added up to another major change: move to Omaha and start a new life.

We accomplished more goals. We brought both women to “retire” in their own “wing” at our house (which we added on ourselves). We moved to a friendly small town that was better for our daughter. We had our second child, a son (making a full set). We started a new business for ourselves doing work we enjoyed and making more money. However, we are working even harder than before and while the money was better, we were barely scraping by caring for four generations.

After years of struggling to find the perfect balance, our search for real financial freedom has brought us here. This is where we raise our own kids, spend our time however we want, and create the work schedule that puts our family first. We are also able to add in other goals we never dreamed imaginable: helping out churches and schools, gifts to relatives, luxuries for our family… and more we haven’t even thought of yet.

What kind of work will I need to do?
Probably exactly what you're doing at your current job, or have done in the past, to make money for other people. You will simply plan what needs to be done, organize your time, and do it. Here is the difference: YOU will be making the profits - not someone who considers you their work-slave and is only using you as a means to create their own fortune. And here is another difference: YOU will decide when and how much you want to work. (You can forget about setting your alarm unless you want to.)

I don't know where to start. Will I be on my own?
